Mr. Vidhu P. Nair, an old student of the College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Mannuthy brought laurels to the Kerala Agricultural University by securing 6th rank in the Civil ServicesExaminations 2002.

The Joint Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, New Delhi, vide letter No. 12/2/2001-E.II dated 22nd March 2002 has conveyed a study report made by UPSC regarding candidates for the Civil Services Examination (Main) 1998. In Agriculture 173 candidates appeared for the Main and 16 were recommended. In Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences, 24 appeared and 5 recommended. Among the Universities sponsoring the candidates Kerala Agricultural University is ranked 50th. Thirteen candidates from KAU appeared and 2 were selected. 98th ranked candidate was from KAU. Agricultural Universities ranked above KAU were TNAU (11th), IARI, New Delhi (19th), TNVASU (20th) and Acharya NG Ranga AU (36th). Among Universities in Kerala, University of Kerala, Trivandrum is ranked 1st (22nd) followed by KAU. The Universities ranked include all the recognized universities by UGC, IITs and Deemed Universities totaling 172. The above brief analysis indicates the good potential of our graduates for entering into Civil Services. With a little more effort and encouragement, our University can top among Agricultural Universities and also among Universities in Kerala.
