ICAR Outstanding Teacher Award |
Dr. M. R. Saseendranath, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Veterinary Epidemiology & Preventive Medicine, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy received the Bharat Ratna Dr. C. Subramaniam Award for outstanding teacher for the biennium 2004-2005 for his significant teaching contributions in veterinary sciences.

Dr. M. R. Saseendranath started his career in the Kerala Agricultural University in 1977. He had hands on training on various livestock activities during his posting in various capacities. As part of extension work, more than 125 farmers classes, vaccination camps, health camps were arranged by him throughout Kerala. He acted as a core group member for formulation of Animal Disease Free Zone projects of Government of Kerala. He successfully completed one NATP project on “Weather based animal disease forecasts”. Considering his overall contributions, he was selected for the best teacher award for the year 2003 from the faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, instituted by the Kerala Agricultural University.
The Bharat Ratna Dr. C. Subramaniam Award for outstanding teacher, instituted by the ICAR, is awarded once in two years to nationally outstanding teachers in seven fields. The award carries a prize money of Rs. 50,000/- , a citation and a certificate. Dr. Saseendranath is one of the seven candidates who received the award during the biennium 2004-05, out of a total of 37 applicants.
